CHAPTER 15
Small Group Presentations
Characteristics of a Small Group
Communication in small groups is a distinct area of communication theory and research. People who study small group communication examine group dynamics and individual contributions that lead to effective small group interaction. Small groups are defined as having between three and 12 members. These groups have unique challenges related to effective communication between members. The scope of small group theory and research is too broad to discuss in a book about public speaking. Therefore, this section describes unique characteristics and challenges of a small group that has been assigned with putting together a presentation.
