CHAPTER 9

Rehearsal and Delivery

Memorized Speeches – In Ancient Greece it was not uncommon for public speakers to recite their speeches from memory. Though memorizing a speech is a less familiar practice today, this impressive mode of delivery can still be very effective. However, one must make sure to rehearse thoroughly. Otherwise, the effectiveness of the speech can take a back seat to a disengaged delivery as the speaker focuses more on recalling words and phrases than on reaching the audience.
